A real great Furmint!
The classic Furmint from Szepsy is rich in aromas and flavors from ripe white fruits: pears, peaches and apples, as well as the minerality from the volcanic soils. Beautiful harmony with a long finish.
István Szepsy is without a doubt currently the most important figure in viticulture in Tokaj, if not in Hungary. This is reflected in the “Winemaker of the Year” award given by the winemakers in 2009. Congratulations to the very likeable Szepsy.
After years as a cellar master at several wineries, Szepsy founded his own winery in Mád in 1997. The 50 hectare winery has plantings in the best locations in the Tokaj region. By "limiting yields to the limit of pain" (often less than 10 hectoliters per hectare) and strict selection in the cellar, he was able to raise the bar in terms of quality again. István Szepsy proudly limits his annual production to just 50,000 bottles. For Szepsy, Tokaj is the most complex wine-growing region in the world due to its geological and climatic conditions, whose white wine stands for fine, aromatic sweetness.
