. The word KOLNA is of Serbian-Croatian origin and means wine cellar and a press house normally built with it, in which wine is also used. In the heyday of the Ménesi wine region, in the 19th century, almost two thousand such KOLNAs were built on the vineyards, which were of great social and cultural importance, as they were the dominant places of local community life alongside grape processing and winemaking. The name KOLNA refers to the history of the wine region, its outstanding times and the community-building power of tradition and wine culture. The wine family wants to emphasize the importance of the place of production, show what the traditional grape varieties in the Ménesi wine region are capable of, and be a reliable meeting point for consumers, as KOLNÁK was back then. ”(Balla Géza winery)
