One of the smallest vineyards in the Szekszárd wine region is the 21-hectare Gurovica, whose name refers to its Serbian origins and owner. It is a protected area, closed on three sides and open to the south, with thin, red clay soil that gives the wines from here a unique saltiness. Of the 21 hectares, almost eight belong to the Takler family - their elegant, spicy and medium-strength Kékfrankos, which has been produced since 2017, comes from here. In 2020, a total of 4,100 bottles were produced from a total of 3,800 vines. The hand-harvested grapes were fermented, destemmed after sorting and then aged in used Hungarian and French barrels for 13 months.
The Kékfrankos Gurovica is characterized by a rich aroma, intense fruitiness and a fleshy character, especially with enchanting notes of black cherries and dried cherries. The acids are lively, the tannins are delicate and the red berries dominate the long finish.
